Author Guideline

 

To facilitate the preparation and submission of your article, please follow the guidelines below:

Format

  • Manuscripts must be typed in single spacing, arranged in two columns, with margins of at least 2.5 cm, and formatted on A4 paper (21 cm × 29.7 cm).
  • Article files must be submitted in Microsoft Word format. Optimal Midwife Journal does not accept other formats such as LaTeX or PDF files.
  • The manuscript must use Times New Roman font. The article title should be written in 14 pt, while the main body text should use 12 pt font. Please refer to the article template for further details.

Article Length

  • The main text of the article should contain approximately 3,000–4,000 words, excluding the title, author information, abstract, and references, with an expected length of approximately 10–15 pages.

Article Structure

  • The manuscript should follow the IMRaD structure (Introduction, Methods, Results, and Discussion) and should include at least the following sections:
    • Introduction
    • Methods
    • Results
    • Discussion
    • Conclusion

Article Title

  • The article title should consist of approximately 12–14 words and should not contain abbreviations.

Author Details

  • The names of all authors must be included without academic or professional titles and listed in the correct order for publication.
  • The corresponding author must provide an active email address to be included in the article.
  • The full name of each author must be written exactly as it should appear in the published article.

Structured Abstract

  • Authors must provide structured abstracts in both Indonesian and English, accompanied by keywords, with a maximum length of 250 words for each abstract.
  • The structured abstract should include the objective, methodology, findings, practical or social implications, and/or originality/value of the study.

Keywords

  • Authors must provide relevant keywords related to the article topic, consisting of 3–5 words or phrases and arranged alphabetically.
  • Keywords should not be written as abbreviations.

Article Categories

  • Authors must classify the manuscript under one of the following article categories:
    • Original Research
    • Case Study
    • Systematic Review
    • General Review

The submitted scholarly work must be original, produced within the last five years, and must not have been previously published.

Headings and Subheadings

  • Headings and subheadings should be concise and clearly indicate the hierarchy of the manuscript sections.

Figures and Tables

  • All figures and tables must be included electronically.
  • Figures must be inserted into the submitted manuscript in JPEG format and should be non-editable, while tables must be provided in an editable format.
  • Figures and tables should clearly communicate the main concepts or findings of the study.
  • Information presented in tables should not be unnecessarily repeated in the main text. Instead, the text should emphasize the significance of the key findings.
  • Each table and figure must have an appropriate title, and any necessary explanatory information should be provided in table footnotes.
  • A manuscript may contain a maximum of five tables and three figures.
  • Each table and figure must be referred to in the main text.
  • Figures and tables must be numbered consecutively using Arabic numerals.

References

  • Most references should be current and obtained from reliable and reputable sources.
  • Authors should prioritize scientific journal articles published within the last five years and textbooks published within the last ten years.
  • Mendeley is recommended as a reference management tool.
  • In-text citations must follow the APA 6th Edition style.
  • The reference list at the end of the manuscript must be arranged alphabetically and formatted according to the specified reference style.
